R&D and Laboratory

R&D Dept.

Our Research & Development department together with the internal laboratory is constantly searching for new materials, new raw materials, new processes that foresee trends and captivate our customers. Because we believe in innovation and maintaining the highest level quality standard we invest most of our time in researching new materials, new processes and new technologies. Clients expect elaborate and quality workmanship and Italian Converter does its utmost to exceed both clients' and company expectations.

Internal Laboratory

Our internal laboratory, led by our team of industry experts, is wholly dedicated to testing and analysis in full compliance with current ISO standards. Every day we dedicate a large part of our time to laboratory research: researching different finishes, testing new raw materials, constantly improving our products, testing articles and creating new fabrics.

Test

The tests

After many years of experience, internal staff are specialized in quickly recognizing the characteristics of each item so that we are able to assign each product, according to each test result, a perfect end use. We are able to create, with great speed, customized samples for every clients' need.

Dynamometer Test

These tests are carried out using an instrument called a dynamometer which is capable of measuring various physical-mechanical resistances for fibrous raw material, semi-finished spinning mill products and, finally, actual fabrics.

Color
Fastness

Crocking Test

The Crocking Test is performed to determine a fabric's color fastness against dry or wet rubbing. Color fastness is evaluated with specific methods according to regulation on test tubes set in a standard atmosphere through "gray scale" interpretation.

Reference Standards
- UNI EN ISO 105-X12

Water Repellence

Spray Test

The Spray Test allows for determining resistance to surface wetting by water (wettability index); it is significant for evaluating the fabric behavior when subjected to waterproofing or water-repellent treatments

Reference Standards
- UNI EN 24920

Bally Test

The Bally test measures a material's resistance to bending with temperatures from -5° to room temperature to verify its suitability for its end use. For the most demanding clients, we are able to test a fabric down to 20° below zero. The test is performed using a specific piece of equipment, called a Bally, that is able to simulate shoe flexion during movement especially since there could be breakages at the points where flexion is greatest.

- UNI EN ISO 17694
- UNI EN 13512
